Project GRETA

Project GRETA is the name we have given to our bid to create a waymarked cycling route around the whole of the British coast based upon The Great Tour route.

The aims of Project GRETA are:

  • To leave a legacy of The Great Tour route that is accessible to all to cycle
  • To showcase the best of Britain’s coastline and to give a much-needed boost to our tourist industry and coastal economies
  • To support short and long-term cycling initiatives around the British coast
  • To provide a platform which people can use for their own fundraising cycle rides based around the British coast

We envision the creation and installation of 64 waymarkers around the coast dividing the route into legs that can be ridden as part of a single day ride, a week-long excursion or maybe even as part of a challenge to tackle the entire route.

Supporting this waymarked route would be an app to support people riding the route, in addition to highlighting local businesses that are cycling-friendly and who provide accommodation, refreshment or cycling related-services.
